Twisted coolant holes are a new feature on the DR-TWIST drill line. This new family of DR drills uses square inserts with 4 cutting edges. The unique design incorporates twisted coolant holes that pass through the drill flutes. Chips can flow out through the hole more freely as a result of this design. The drill is also stronger and more resistant to torsion since the coolant holes don't pass through the core of the drill.
The new drills are available in drilling depth to a diameter ratio of 2xD, 3xD, and 4XD with a range of 12 to 60 mm. For general applications and a wide range of materials, the IC908 and SUMO-TECH IC808 PVD grades should be used. For high speed machining of alloy steel and cast iron the IC9080 and NEW SUMO-TECH IC8080 CVD grades should be used
